The rainy season is here, and so is the double threat of Dengue and Influenza. Because they share very similar early symptoms, it can be tricky to tell them apart. Check out our quick survival guide to learn how to spot the differences, protect your home, and stay safe all season long!
How to Spot the Difference
- Dengue Fever: Spread by mosquitoes. Look out for a sudden high fever, severe pain behind the eyes, and intense muscle or joint aches.
- Influenza (The Flu): Spread through respiratory droplets. Look out for a fever accompanied by coughing, a sore throat, a runny nose, and extreme fatigue.
Crucial Safety Note: If you experience a sudden high fever, avoid taking Ibuprofen or Aspirin until you see a doctor. If it turns out to be Dengue, these medications can dangerously increase your risk of internal bleeding. Stick to Paracetamol instead!
Your 3-Step Protection Plan
- Clear Out Stagnant Water: Dengue mosquitoes breed in clean, still water. Flip over empty flower pots, buckets, and plastic containers around your home or office.
- Guard Against Droplets: Flu spreads fast in crowded spaces or during wet commutes. Wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face, and wear a mask around anyone coughing or sneezing.
- Get Your Annual Flu Shot: While we fight mosquitoes for Dengue, we have a powerful, scientifically proven shield against the Flu. Because flu strains mutate constantly, getting your updated annual shot takes just 15 minutes but protects you, your colleagues, and your family all season long.
