Could Your Child’s Sudden Fever Be Dengue? Don’t Ignore These Warning Signs!

It’s Mosquito’s Month!

As a parent, a sudden spike in your child’s temperature is always worrying. During the rainy season, it is crucial to stay extra vigilant for these symptoms:

  • What to watch for: Sudden high fever (2–3 days), severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, joint aches, vomiting, or extreme lethargy.

The Dangerous Truth About Dengue Fever

  • Stubborn Fevers: Unlike a standard cold, Dengue fever is notoriously stubborn. Even after giving fever-reducing medication, their temperature often refuses to drop.
  • The Deceptive “Cool Down” Phase: A sudden drop in temperature does not mean your child is recovered. If the fever drops but they remain weak, lethargic, or are still vomiting, they are entering the critical phase.
  • MOH Critical Warning: Never give your child Ibuprofen or Aspirin for a sudden fever. If it is Dengue, these can cause dangerous internal bleeding. Use Paracetamol only.
