Dr. Elias Engelking

General Surgeon & Emergency

Dr. med. Elias Jacob Engelking (MBA) is a German-trained specialist surgeon based in Phnom Penh with more than 18 years of international clinical experience. His work is grounded in frontline patient care, emergency and surgical services, and the practical improvement of hospital systems to support safe, high-quality medicine.

At Intercare Hospital, he serves as Head of Digital Health and senior clinical advisor, with a clear clinical priority: ensuring that workflows, documentation, and digital tools support doctors and nurses in delivering safe and efficient care. His approach is shaped by hands-on experience across Germany, Nigeria, and Cambodia, including high-volume surgery, emergency medicine, infection prevention, and clinical quality systems.

In addition to his hospital role, Dr. Engelking serves as Kooperationsarzt of the German Embassy in Phnom Penh and as Trusted Doctor of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). These roles reflect long-standing trust in his clinical judgment, professionalism, and ethical standards when caring for international staff and partners.

Alongside clinical practice, he contributes to the responsible integration of digital health and artificial intelligence into clinical environments, with a strong focus on patient safety, professional accountability, and ethical governance.
